According to ICMR (GfK-Rus), the share of paying users of online cinemas in Russia has increased significantly over the past four years, reaching 79% by the end of 2025.
The growth reflects a steady shift toward subscription-based viewing. Over the same period, the proportion of users accessing online cinemas for free declined: while more than 30% of subscribers used free access in 2021, their share fell to 21% by the end of 2025.
ICMR data also show that online cinema subscriptions are now used by a majority of urban residents. In the fourth quarter of 2025, 51% of people living in Russian cities had an active subscription to at least one online cinema service.
Kinopoisk maintained its leading position in the market, both in terms of overall subscriber reach and paid users. In the fourth quarter of 2025, Kinopoisk was used by 23% of urban residents, while 19% held a paid subscription to the service.
The ranking of the top five Russian online cinemas by number of subscribers remained unchanged over the quarter. Following Kinopoisk, the leading platforms were Okko, Wink, IVI, and KION, highlighting a stable competitive landscape as paid consumption continues to dominate the market.
