Good news for Russian cinemagoers interested in Indian films!
“Kesari Chapter 2” officially premiered in Russian cinemas on 18th April, offering audiences a powerful historical drama rooted in India’s freedom movement. The film was released across the country by Moscow-based distributor Indian Films, continuing the company’s mission to bring high-quality Indian content to Russian screens.
A spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit “Kesari”, the new film is based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. It tells the story of renowned lawyer C. Sankaran Nair and his courageous legal battle following the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre — a turning point in India’s colonial history.
“Kesari Chapter 2” is produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films. Akshay Kumar plays the role of C. Sankaran Nair, R. Madhavan appears as advocate Neville McKinley, and Ananya Pandey portrays Dilreet Gill.
This bold, emotionally charged courtroom drama has already sparked strong interest among Russian viewers and adds another milestone to the growing presence of Indian cinema in Russia.
