On April 9, during the “Fresh Content from China” conference at World Content Market – Moscow 2025, Yaonan Liu, Director of Content Cooperation at Beijing Filmtag Technology Development, presented the feature-length urban drama “The Night Is Still Young”.
The film tells the story of young people living in a modern metropolis as they search for love, stability, and meaning in a rapidly changing world. Set against the backdrop of the nighttime city, the characters face loneliness, moral choices, and emotional challenges. Each of them goes through a personal journey, trying to stay true to themselves and others amid the intensity of urban life.
The film stands out with its atmospheric visual style, honest dialogue, and relevant themes that resonate with global audiences. It offers a candid and poetic portrayal of a generation that sees the night not as darkness, but as a space for feelings, hope, and transformation.
At the company’s booth in the China Pavilion, the film attracted attention from Russian buyers interested in Chinese independent cinema. Particular interest was shown in titles suitable for theatrical release. Beijing Filmtag Technology Development already has strong ties with the Russian market — its films are released in Russian cinemas every year and continue to find appreciative audiences. Earlier, Beijing Filmtag Technology Development established a partnership with Russian distributor SB Film, which acquired several of its high-profile titles for theatrical release in Russia. The aviation action film “Born to Fly” marked a major breakthrough for Chinese cinema in the local market. Later, the crime thriller “I Did It My Way”, directed by Jason Kwan and starring Andy Lau, Eddie Peng, and Gordon Lam, premiered in Russian cinemas last year, delivering a strong box-office performance and reinforcing the appeal of Chinese blockbusters among Russian audiences.
The presentation of “The Night Is Still Young” in Moscow highlighted the growing appeal of contemporary Chinese cinema and showed how its stories can connect with viewers around the world through a shared emotional language.
