Classic storylines, contemporary plots, and unforgettable characters. All this has made TV Globo a powerhouse in Brazil and a beloved name in Russia.

This year of 2025 marks the celebration of Globo’s 100th anniversary and other celebrations of the group, like the 10 years of Globoplay streaming platform and 60 years of TV Globo – relevant milestones in the historical relationship Brazilians have with the thousands of stories told every day, whether in the pages of newspapers and magazines, on the radio, on TV screens, in movie theaters and on digital platforms.

In the international market, where it has operated since 1973, Globo’s content has already reached more than 160 territories and has been dubbed into 70 languages. Recognized for its technical quality, the company has over 90 International Emmy nominations and has won 18 times. An example of Globo’s productions that conquered the world is the telenovela Isaura Slave Girl, one of TV Globo´s highest-rated telenovelas in Russia and other countries. But why are TV Globo´s telenovelas so acclaimed worldwide?

Globo is the largest television network in Latin America and one of the biggest in the world. A history that began when, on July 29th of 1925, the first edition of the newspaper O Globo arrived at newspaper stands in Rio de Janeiro, inaugurating what would become the largest media and communications group in Brazil. Founded by Irineu Marinho and led for decades by his eldest son, Roberto Marinho, the group considers the country’s cultural richness and diversity as its main source of inspiration, becoming the place where millions of Brazilians meet and recognize themselves every day.

When it comes to Globo’s portfolio,Brazil Avenue, The Clone, India – A Love Story and other award-winning productions are some examples that captivated audiences of major global festivals. These compelling stories feature unforgettable, universal characters whose experiences resonate with cultures around the world.

Most recently, the first Globoplay Original film, “I’m Still Here”, was honored with the world’s most prestigious cinema award: the Oscar in the International Feature Film category, during the ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. This historic milestone marks a turning point for Brazilian cinema and Globo itself, which, for the first time, has a production recognized with an Oscar statuette.

Looking to the future sets the tone for Globo’s 100th anniversary celebration – a hit factory that continues to captivate audiences – just like in Russia, as everywhere in the world where people can’t resist a good story.
