Russia continues to strengthen its film industry ties with China, welcoming more collaborative productions that highlight shared history and cultural connections. One of the latest projects, the Russian-Chinese adventure detective film “Red Silk,” is set for release on February 20. Produced with the participation of the National Media Group (NMG), the film explores the turbulent events of the late 1920s and the Soviet Union’s involvement in shaping modern China.

The storyline follows Chinese Communists as they transport secret documents to the Soviets along the Trans-Siberian Railway. This mission unfolds against the backdrop of political purges and shifting alliances, bringing together espionage, action, and historical intrigue. The film captures the tense atmosphere of the era, with dynamic scenes set on moving trains and in secret meeting places.

“Red Silk” brings together a talented Russian-Chinese cast and a production team committed to authenticity. Period-accurate costumes, detailed sets, and historical references create an immersive experience. The film balances fast-paced action with deep historical context, appealing to both thriller enthusiasts and history lovers.

Russian cinema enjoys strong recognition in China, with past successes like “Stalingrad” and “Invasion.” “Red Silk” is now highly anticipated as a major release, offering a compelling mix of drama, espionage, and historical adventure.

CHINA PAVILION will be organized at the World Content Market – Moscow (8-10 April 2025). Chinese companies will come to offer coproduction opportunities.
