Television continues to hold its position as the leading mass-reach medium in Uzbekistan, despite evolving audience behavior and shifting viewing patterns, according to recent research by Ledokol Group, Kantar TNS Uzbekistan and International Media Service (IMS) covering 2025–2026.
Monthly TV reach remains high at 87% of the population, although slightly down from previous years, when it ranged between 90% and 94%. On a daily basis, more than 15 million viewers still watch television, underlining its continued importance as a primary media platform in the country.
At the same time, daily reach declined to 44% as of spring 2026, reflecting broader changes in consumption habits and increasing competition from digital platforms.
Importantly, analysts note that television in Uzbekistan is not limited to older audiences. Broadcasters are actively investing in youth-oriented franchises and high-performing drama series to retain younger viewers and remain competitive. Local channels dominate the market, accounting for approximately 50% of total viewing share. In comparison, foreign channels represent 11%, while regional channels account for just 2%.
In terms of content trends, the first half of 2026 saw rating growth concentrated in a limited number of players. The only channels to demonstrate consistent audience growth in the first half of 2026 were a movie- and series-focused channel and a children’s broadcaster. Viewer demand continues to center on high-rating drama series, including both Turkish and locally produced titles, as well as major international franchises adapted for the Uzbek market. These formats remain key drivers of audience engagement across the television landscape.
