Filming is currently underway in Almaty on a new film project titled “Prince of Asia”, bringing together filmmakers from Kazakhstan and South Korea. The film is expected to be released by the end of the year, according to NUR.KZ.
The project is being produced by Big Tiger Media, which previously filmed the comedy “Magan Ake Kerek” in Kazakhstan.
The story follows a Korean idol who travels to Almaty for a commercial shoot, but after a conflict with producers, unexpectedly finds himself stranded in a foreign country without money, documents, or knowledge of the language. His only link to his previous life is a broken phone. He is helped by a young woman named Togzhan, who has no idea that he is a global star.
Filming will take place in both Kazakhstan and South Korea, with actors from both countries involved in the project. The lead role will be played by a real K-pop idol, whose name has not yet been disclosed.
The creators of the project see “Prince of Asia” as a new stage in cultural collaboration between Kazakhstan and South Korea, bringing together the industries, audiences, and creative teams of both countries.
The film is expected to be released in cinemas across Kazakhstan by the end of the year.
