A Celebration of Italian Cinema on Friday!

From 7th to 10th October, the popular Russian TV channel Friday! will spotlight iconic Italian films in its Midnight series, featuring the works of legendary director Giuseppe Tornatore and composer Ennio Morricone.

Giuseppe Tornatore, a modern master of Italian cinema, is an Oscar and Golden Globe winner, as well as a recipient of awards from Venice, Cannes, the British and European Film Academies. His long-time collaborator, Ennio Morricone, scored all of Tornatore’s feature films. Morricone, one of the most celebrated composers in film history, composed music for over 400 films and earned two Oscars, three Golden Globes, six BAFTA Awards, and nine David di Donatello awards.

  • 7th October – “Cinema Paradiso” (1988). A tribute to classic Italian cinema.
  • 8th October – “The Legend of 1900” (1998). Tornatore’s first English-language film based on Alessandro Baricco’s novel.
  • 9th October – “The Best Offer” (2012). A psychological thriller about art, deception, and passion.
  • 10th October – “Ennio: The Maestro” (2021). A documentary on the genius of Ennio Morricone.
