Starting 9th August, the Subbota! TV channel brings Russian viewers a nostalgic treat — the legendary Mexican telenovela “Rosa Salvaje” (“Wild Rose”), starring iconic duo Verónica Castro and Guillermo Capetillo. A true hit of the late 1980s, this classic drama is now available to a new generation of fans, with free online streaming in high quality.

Originally aired on Canal de las Estrellas in 1987–1988, “Rosa Salvaje” ran for 199 episodes and became a sensation both in Mexico and internationally. The series follows the emotional journey of Rosa García, a poor young woman who falls in love with wealthy Ricardo Linares. Despite fierce disapproval from his upper-class family, Ricardo insists on marrying Rosa and brings her into his family mansion — unaware she is being used to provoke his arrogant sisters. What follows is a dramatic battle of wills, betrayal, and resilience as Rosa fights to protect her dignity and love.

The telenovela featured not only the beloved leads Castro and Capetillo but also a strong cast of antagonists including Laura Zapata, Liliana Abud, and Edith González. Interestingly, González later replaced Felicia Mercado in the same role midway through the series.

“Rosa Salvaje” first aired in Russia in 1994, after Russian audiences had already been introduced to Verónica Castro and Guillermo Capetillo in another iconic series — “The Rich Also Cry” (1979). In that earlier show, Castro and Capetillo played mother and son, while in “Rosa Salvaje”, eight years later, they returned as romantic leads. At the time of filming, Castro portrayed an 18-year-old heroine — despite being 35 years old in real life.

Now, for the first time on Subbota! channel, Russian viewers can relive the passion, intrigue, and unforgettable drama of “Rosa Salvaje” — a series that defined an era and continues to stir hearts around the world.
