The international success of Turkish TV dramas has transformed the industry into a multi-billion-dollar powerhouse. According to Parrot Analytics, global demand for Turkish series soared by 184% between 2020 and 2023, reflecting the increasing appetite for compelling storytelling from Türkiye.
With over 170 countries purchasing Turkish TV series, exports have generated an estimated $600 million (€575 million) in revenue in 2023 alone—a figure expected to continue rising. Today, 800 million viewers across the world are tuning in to Turkish dramas, according to Türkiye’s Trade Minister, Ömer Bolat.
Turkish series have become not only entertainment staples but also cultural ambassadors, influencing public opinion and shaping perceptions of Türkiye worldwide. With over 70% of Turkish households subscribed to streaming services, the demand for high-quality TV dramas remains strong both domestically and internationally. On Turkish television, prime-time drama slots continue to dominate, with viewers spending an average of four hours a day watching TV.
