Martial arts icon and international film star Jackie Chan has begun filming “Armour of God: Ultimatum” in Kazakhstan this summer, marking the latest installment in the action franchise.
The production is taking place in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau Region, which has been selected as one of the project’s principal shooting locations, highlighting the growing appeal of the country’s dramatic natural landscapes for international productions. The first scenes were shot against the backdrop of the region’s unique natural landscapes, Qazinform News Agency reports.
Among the film’s key locations is Bozzhyra, one of Kazakhstan’s most iconic natural landmarks, known for its striking limestone cliffs and otherworldly desert scenery.
Mangystau Governor Nurdaulet Kilybai noted that hosting a production of this scale would help promote the region internationally while creating new opportunities for tourism, investment and the development of Kazakhstan’s film industry.
Chan praised the region’s landscapes, describing Mangystau as having exceptional cinematic potential that will become a memorable part of the film.
