Russian OTT platform Kinopoisk has launched a dedicated anime section with personalized recommendations, reflecting the growing demand for Japanese animation among viewers. Since the beginning of the year, more than 4.5 million subscribers have watched anime content on the platform.

The new hub brings together all anime titles available on Kinopoisk, offering users a centralized space to discover new content, explore their favourite series and access additional information about titles. The section is fully personalised, with recommendations based on viewing history, user ratings and individual preferences.

The anime hub is integrated across the platform, accessible via title pages, the main menu and genre icons on the homepage. It also features a regularly updated top 10 ranking of anime titles, highlighting current viewing trends.

To enhance the experience for anime audiences, Kinopoisk has introduced a dedicated setting enabling Japanese audio with Russian subtitles by default. The feature is available across web, mobile and smart TV platforms and activates automatically when original audio tracks are available.

The launch of a dedicated anime environment underlines a broader shift in viewing habits, as Russian audiences increasingly engage with Asian content and niche genres. For platforms, this translates into a more targeted approach to content curation, while for distributors it signals continued growth potential for anime in the Russian market.
