Growing cultural ties and a shared audience interest in Asian content are creating new opportunities for co-production and international filming between South Korea and Kazakhstan.
A South Korean television series is currently being filmed in Kazakhstan’s Almaty region, with several of the country’s natural locations set to appear in the upcoming international production.
According to local authorities, filming is taking place in the village of Dardamty in the Uyghur district, as well as in Moon Canyon, Black Canyon, and along the Ili River near Konaev. The project is being produced by a South Korean company in collaboration with local production team Atadala.
The production involves a large number of professionals, including actors, stunt performers, technical crews, and local service providers, highlighting the scale of the project.
Members of the creative team said Kazakhstan was selected for its diverse natural landscapes, which are well suited for large-scale and visually driven scenes. The country is increasingly being used as a filming location for international productions.
The series is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
