The Indian television drama “Jhanak” has been gaining strong popularity on Astana TV, reflecting the continued demand for Indian content in Kazakhstan.

“Jhanak” is a Hindi-language television drama series. The story follows a driven young woman who embarks on a journey to fulfill her mother’s promise of a better life. As she navigates loss and personal challenges, her path crosses with a man whose presence further complicates her life, creating a layered emotional narrative.

The series later introduced a second-generation storyline, with Riya Sharma taking on the titular role of Jhanak, alongside Arjit Taneja (later replaced by Rajveer Singh) and Twinkle Arora. This new chapter is loosely based on another Bengali series, “Ishti Kutum”. The show also featured Megha Chakraborty in a parallel storyline as Ishani, which proved popular enough to develop into a standalone spin-off series titled “Ishani”.

The success of “Jhanak” on Astana TV highlights the strong appeal of Indian drama series in the Central Asian market, particularly those combining emotional storytelling, family dynamics, and aspirational narratives.

Astana TV will attend World Content Market – Almaty to acquire new titles.
