The Heir
In the mid-Ming Dynasty, a high-profile tribute ink scandal shatters the long-standing order of the Huizhou ink industry. The century-old Li Ink family—once the unrivalled leader of the trade—falls into decline, and its Eighth Branch is cast out from the clan.
Years later, Li Zhen, the youngest daughter of the disgraced branch, turns to ink-making to support her family. Gifted and determined, she revitalises the once-silent Huizhou ink scene and, defying the constraints placed upon women of her time, forges her own destiny. With ink as her blade, she restores the glory of Huizhou craftsmanship, revives her century-old family, and rekindles the brilliance of a thousand-year-old tradition. Rooted in the richness of Chinese traditional culture, the series paints a sweeping portrait of commercial prosperity in the Ming ink world. Through the rise and fall of a family enterprise, it celebrates generational legacy, the enduring vitality of an intangible heritage craft, and the resilient spirit of artisans shaped by devotion to both family and country.

The Garden of Missing Paths
Bodelan Hall is a mental asylum built in 1923 in Chuning City. It once boasted spacious grounds and castle-like Western-style buildings, but by the time our story begins, it has long fallen into disrepair, with its inhabitants—the insane—still wandering its halls. After the Japanese surrender, Chuning City entered a brief period of power chaos. Collaborators, secret agents, police, military police, and «taking-over» officials descended upon the asylum one after another, seemingly normal by fate’s design. Yet, the story that unfolds is utterly mad. The asylum’s doctor—or more precisely, the former doctor’s apprentice—prepares to fight against all the forces encroaching upon the hospital. His only weapons are his understanding of human greed, fear, and madness; his methods extend no further than those available to a doctor. Yet, he possesses firm conviction and will. He has the help of the asylum’s other residents, and the madmen… Those madmen, each with their own pasts. Sometimes, they appear even saner than the sane.
