Seagnal

Genre: documentary, nature
Duration: 89mins

SEAGNAL follows seven people whose lives are tied to the sea: a Jeju haenyeo diver Yujeong Lee; a Mexican fisherman working to protect the critically endangered vaquita; marine bioacoustician Michel André, who «listens» to changing ocean soundscapes; British freediver and underwater photographer Daniel Nicholson; Greenpeace explorers charting warming waters; and an Indonesian resident of the flooded village of Bedono near Semarang. Filmed across Korea, Mexico and Southeast Asia, the documentary records how noise, overfishing, warming seas and coastal loss reshape marine life and coastal communities. Through field recordings, dives and intimate interviews, the film asks whether we can still hear the ocean’s warning-and shows small, practical acts of care that point toward recovery.
