“The RajaSaab” has premiered in Russian cinemas since 9 January, with the release distributed locally by IndianFilms. The film adds another Indian title to the current wave of South Asian releases reaching Russian big screens, targeting audiences looking for a large-scale, mainstream entertainer.

At the center of the story is a young heir who carries two identities at once: a sense of royal duty and a rebellious spirit. As he rises to power, he embraces his heritage but refuses to follow tradition, introducing unprecedented rules during his reign as Raja Saab. That clash between old expectations and new authority drives the film’s core conflict, shaping both the politics of the court and the personal choices of its new ruler.

For Russian cinemas, the January launch positions “The RajaSaab” as a fresh import aimed at viewers interested in contemporary Indian commercial storytelling—where spectacle, ambition, and a strong central character are key to the appeal. More films from India are coming to Russian cinemas soon.
