Inter Medya Vertical Storytelling

Hasret Özcan, Vice President and Head of Legal and Business Affairs at Inter Medya (Türkiye), spoke at the World Content Market – Moscow in November, during the session “Microdramas: A New Era of Content.” She presented Inter Medya’s recent expansion into vertical drama production — a format gaining momentum across global digital platforms.

Özcan announced that Inter Medya has established a dedicated vertical drama production unit and, in September 2025, completed its first original production in this format: Boardroom to Bedroom. The series follows Murat, a successful executive returning to Istanbul, where he is unexpectedly named co-CEO alongside Azra, a driven, self-made woman already in the position. Their professional rivalry, personal tension, and a scandal involving leaked surveillance footage evolve into an alliance that uncovers a deeper corporate scheme.

In addition to its own productions, Inter Medya has opened a new category within its distribution catalog for vertical dramas. This includes not only in-house content but also Turkish vertical series produced by other companies and released on various platforms. The move reflects growing global interest in short-form, mobile-first narratives and builds on the international success of Turkish content, which is currently distributed in more than 160 countries.

The session also addressed broader industry trends, including the rise of vertical mini-series, the roles of online cinemas versus standalone apps, platform content strategies (originals vs. acquisitions), and promotion methods for short-form content in Russia. The discussion also highlighted the role of Turkish producers in maintaining cultural specificity within the vertical format.
