IVI, one of Russia’s largest OTT platforms, has become the first streaming service in the country to introduce a major vertical mini-drama section within its mobile app. This new hub features a wide catalog of short-format international vertical series that have already captivated millions of viewers across the globe. With just a tap on the “Mini-Dramas” button on the app’s bottom navigation panel, users can instantly access these global hits on their smartphones. To better serve Russian audiences, IVI is also preparing exclusive professional dubbing in Russian.
Each mini-drama includes over 50 episodes, each lasting between 60 and 180 seconds. Despite their compact format, entire seasons range from 1.5 to 3 hours in total length—comparable to a feature film or mini-series. These bite-sized stories are packed with gripping plots and unexpected twists, making them addictive and hard to stop watching. At the same time, they’re ideal for convenient viewing in any situation—on a metro ride, while cooking, waiting to pick up a child from school, or even standing in line at the store.
The mini-dramas span a diverse range of genres, offering something for every taste. Common themes include passionate romances between rich and poor, betrayals in the business world, life-changing encounters between polar opposites, supernatural ties to werewolves, vampires, and other mythical beings, the shocking return of lost or stolen children, and forbidden affairs between bosses and employees. Many more emotional and suspenseful stories round out this dynamic selection.
Currently, IVI offers 58 mini-dramas in the new format, with the catalog set to expand in the coming months. Russian viewers can now enjoy trending global vertical series at the same time as audiences around the world.
