TNT has officially announced the start of filming for “Korolek of My Love,” a feature-length film that blends the spectacle of Bollywood with Russian humor. Shot in Mumbai, Udaipur, and Jodhpur, the film promises an authentic and visually rich experience.
The project is led by actor and comedian Demis Karibidis, who not only wrote the script but also stars as Ramash, a noble police officer in the fictional city of Khurmada. His character faces off against the bandit Shamar, played by Mikhail Galustyan. Unaware that they are long-lost brothers, their rivalry takes a surprising turn when an investigation leads them to uncover the tragic fire that separated them.
The cast includes Russian and Indian actors such as Adila Ragimova, Artur Vakha, Sergey Rost, and Lyudmila Artemyeva. Directed by Marius Weisberg, known for “End of Glory” and “Love in the Big City,” the film is produced by Lika Blank, Olesya Lubotskaya, and Alexey Titov.
A Unique Blend of Cultures
Demis Karibidis sees the film as a way to introduce Russian humor into Bollywood’s vibrant storytelling. “For generations, Bollywood films were all about emotion—intense love, betrayals, and action-packed sequences. Today, younger audiences seek something truly surprising. Bollywood has evolved, and I wondered what unique Russian element we could bring into this spectacle. The answer was humor. No one does humor like we do.”
Director Marius Weisberg was drawn to the project’s fairy-tale quality. “Bollywood cinema prioritizes emotions over strict logic, and this film is a perfect example. Our mix of Russian humor, cultural references, and the magic of Bollywood creates something entirely new. With a multilingual set operating in Hindi, English, and Russian, it’s a truly international production.”
Mikhail Galustyan, who plays Shamar, reflected on the nostalgic appeal of Bollywood in Russia. “We all remember “Disco Dancer” and other classics. They worked because they created exaggerated yet relatable emotions. Our film does the same but with Russian humor woven into the mix. Shot in India with a massive production team, it has everything—drama, comedy, and spectacular choreography.”
A Global Production with Big Ambitions
Producer Lika Blank emphasized the project’s international scope. “Khurmada is a fictional yet immersive world, and to make it feel real, we had to shoot in India. We are working with an international team from India, China, and Colombia, bringing together diverse talent. This film has all the elements to create a new cinematic universe—an amazing cast, stunning visuals, and a story that audiences worldwide will connect with.”
With its bold mix of Bollywood extravagance and Russian humor, “Korolek of My Love” aims to break new ground and entertain audiences far beyond Russia’s borders.
