Last year, the Chinese film “Born to Fly”, produced by Beijing Filmtag Technology Development was acquired by the Russian company SB Film for distribution in Russian cinemas, marking a significant entry into the Russian market. This acquisition was part of SB Film’s strategy to bring more international, particularly Chinese, blockbusters to Russian audiences.

“Born to Fly” is a patriotic action film directed by Liu Xiaoshi, which centers around Chinese fighter pilots and their advanced aviation technology. In China, the film had a successful run, grossing over $121 million globally, and it found an eager audience in Russia as well.

“Born to Fly” shares thematic elements with other successful military films, focusing on national pride, advanced technology, and the heroism of its characters. These themes resonate well with Russian audiences, who appreciate stories that emphasize military strength and national identity. The film’s portrayal of Chinese fighter pilots and cutting-edge aviation technology has drawn parallels with popular Western military films, offering a fresh perspective that appeals to Russian viewers.

The film boasts impressive visual effects, particularly in its aerial combat sequences. The quality of the cinematography and special effects has been a significant draw, especially for audiences who enjoy action-packed, visually stunning films.

The distribution by SB Film ensured that “Born to Fly” was widely accessible in Russian cinemas, with strategic marketing that highlighted its similarities to well-known military films. The promotion effectively reached a broad audience, contributing to its box office success in Russia.

As of 2024, “Born to Fly” can be watched on several TV Channels and OTT platforms in Russia.
