The Chinese TV series “Guardians of the Dafeng” has garnered notable success since its release, appealing to fans of historical adventure and fantasy genres. The show blends elements of martial arts, mystery, and alternative history, featuring a protagonist, Xu Qi’an, who uses his modern knowledge to solve crimes in the ancient Dafeng dynasty. The storyline involves magical elements, political intrigue, and moral dilemmas, which have attracted a broad audience.
The series stars popular actors like Dylan Wang and Tian Xiwei, who have helped drive its popularity, and its intricate world-building, filled with demons, sorcery, and Confucian scholars, adds to its allure. In China, the series was particularly well-received, gaining a large following even before its release, with over 500,000 reservations made ahead of its premiere.
In Russia, the series also attracted a notable fan base. Chinese dramas have been growing in popularity in Russia, where historical and martial arts dramas, in particular, resonate with audiences. The genre’s appeal, combined with Russia’s increasing interest in Asian television content, has helped “Guardians of the Dafeng” find success there as well.
