In the early 1960s, the Park Junghee regime, which came to power on May 16th as a result of a military coup, started land reclamation projects across 140 locations in Korea. The regime abducted vagrants under the pretext of education and rehabilitation and sent them to the land reclamation sites to plow the land with their bare hands.
Nearly 60 years have passed, yet the people cannot but remember the history of injustice.
Many of these former forced laborers are now in their 80’s. We convey the tale of the people who still live on those grounds today.
