Traditional Korean alcohol has been made of natural and seasonal ingredient for thousands of years. Main varieties are takju (raw rice wine), cheongju (refined rice wine) and soju (distilled liquor), which Koreans have enjoyed so far. Korean ancestors recorded recipes of alcoholic drinks as well as foods to pass on because they believed wine and liquor were important and meaningful. The show is about the history, qualities and classical production methods of Korean traditional alcohol, consisting of reviving Korea’s traditional culture. It also explores nuruk, a traditional Korean fermentation starter and a secret to impart a unique flavor to Korean alcoholic drinks.
The show takes makgeolli (raw rice wine) and beer from home-brewed drinks, and soju and whisky from spirits, and compares their styles and characteristics. Daniel Lindemann from Germany and Ville Maijala from Finland appear on the show to taste Korean alcohol and explain its excellence to the viewers worldwide..
