The European Audiovisual Observatory is part of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France. It is a public service organisation. Russia is a member state of the European Audiovisual Observatory, which counts amongst its members 41 countries and the European Union represented by the European Commission.

The Observatory was created in 1992 in order to collect and distribute information about the cinema, television and VOD industries in Europe. The Observatory provides information on the various audiovisual markets in Europe and their financing. It also analyses and reports on the legal issues affecting the different sectors of the audiovisual industry.

The Observatory’s information is available, mostly free of charge on our website, in the form of downloadable reports, databases, newsletters and conference contributions.

We regularly report on market and legal developments in the Russian Federation and have organized many media conferences in Russia over the years.
