Winter has arrived at the South Pole. Soon the sun will set for the next six months. The Winterers, a reduced group of scientists, will remain at Polaris VI scientific station to keep up their groundbreaking research on climate change under famous biologist Arthur Wilde’s command. But when Spring arrives and Summer commander Johan Berg returns to the station, everybody is either dead or missing. A killer is on the loose and Johan’s wife, Annika, is nowhere to be found. If he wants to find her alive, he will have to rely on Maggie, the young but traumatized doctor, who is apparently the only survivor. Or is she?
